Finding Clever Dog Names is Easy

Coming up with dog names shouldn’t be a chore. It should be fun to see how many clever dog names you can think of and then choose the perfect one for your new dog. Clever dog names can come from a lot of places. The first thing you should do is think of what you want your dogs name to represent. Do you want your dog to be named after someone important, or for his name to resemble his looks? Some clever dog names for your new dalmatian could be Abe Lincoln, Martin Luther (and/or) King, Jr., or Rosa Parks. These are all names of important people who played a major part in today’s desegregation (also resembling the intermixing of black and white colors on your dog).

If you would like clever dog names that have meaning but are also unique, how about some foreign names? From Italy we can find Pippa (lover of horses) if you happen to have a horse ranch, Orianna (golden) for your retriever, Leola (lion) for your lioness-looking chow-chow, or Allessandra (defender of man) for your future watchdog.

Some clever German names for dogs could be Schnell (fast) for your greyhound, Dieter (warrior of the people, pronounced dee-tah) for your rottweiler, or Freund (friend, pronounced froind) for your best friend.

Maybe you prefer to find clever dog names from the really old country. Some great Celtic dog names are Arturo (strong as a bear) for your big bear of a dog, Dughall (dark stranger) for the little black puppy you rescued, or Sloan (fighter) for your pit bull, although we know you’re not going to let him fight, right?

You can find clever dog names on television. From the weather channel you can find Storm, Snow, Hurricane, or how about Warning. Flip over to the classic movie channel and you might find an old Godzilla movie with characters such as Mothra, Rodan, or Ghidorah. On the next channel you might tune into a Star Trek show and see Kirk, Vash, Romulan, or a Vulcan.

TV is not the only place to find clever dog names. Do you listen to Sirius radio? You know their mascot is a dog. Sirius is a great dog name. On the radio you might hear some great dog names from bands and musicians. How about singers like Hendrix, Ozzy, Bach, Zappa or Carlos Santana. Famous bands offer up some very clever dog names, like Incubus, Seether, Jefferson (Airplane) or Fleetwood (Mac).

Some clever dog names for pairs of dogs could be Friar and Tuck or Friar Tuck and Robin Hood, Mai and Tai, General and Sherman, Anthony and Cleopatra, Cheech and Chong, Bonnie and Clyde, Adam and Eve, Abbott and Costelo, or Willie and Wonka.

Finding clever dog names are easy, no matter where you choose to look. Have fun with them and be sure to pick a name that you and your puppy will enjoy for years to come. Get creative and you are sure to find great dog names.
